1980s Contemporary – 2 Storey Addition

This stunning 2 storey addition built by Sakiyama Construction was designed by Greg Palmer (Greg Palmer Design). The unique floor plan added a main floor Great room and a second floor master bedroom suite. The cedar decking complements the extensive landscaping changes that included a waterfall and ponds.

1980s Contemporary   The unconventional design of this addition melds the new spaces at a 45 degree angle to the existing home. This adds a striking architectural dimension to an otherwise bland rear elevation.

The existing kitchen and eating area looked out onto the back yard through patio doors, pictured above left. The redesigned kitchen now flows seamlessly into the new Great room addition (right). Existing kitchen cabinets were maintained with curved granite and oak millwork added to create an eating bar.

The triangular shaped Great room space overlooks the newly landscaped back yard. Windows at the prow of the addition rise two stories high.

Custom oak cabinetry by AMX Millwork with granite counters by Carrara Tile wraps from the kitchen into the new Great room. Oak hardwood floors are carried from the existing house into the new space. Note pass through where kitchen window was previously.   1980s Contemporary

1980s Contemporary   The new second floor master bedroom suite has a panoramic view of the rear yard and adjacent park with lakes. The feature wall showcases a gas fireplace with granite surround and oak millwork.
